Teeny Tiny Tales #29
"All things seem possible in May." -- Edwin Way Teale. 5.7.25 through 5.13.25.
This is where I present my daily microfiction stories, mostly based on the past week’s prompts from The Fiction Dealer. By posting my humble tales - the good, bad, silly, and indifferent - I hope to inspire others to allow their creativity to come out and play.
May 8, 2025: Rose and Pee Wee finally get to return to the pasture after a long winter’s exile. While the elder Rose gets right down to business, Pee Wee exuberantly expresses her joy!

Microdosing - 80 mg of Wine
The Song of Dionysius
🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇🍇
Whiling away my time,
Always guzzling wine.
There’s no time to dine,
I’m too busy drinking wine.
What’s yours is mine,
And what’s mine is mine,
Please don’t bother to whine,
I refuse to share my wine.
In the morning, wine is fine,
At noon, I pine for wine,
Dinner is from the vine,
I drink wine ‘til I’m supine.
So heed my little rhyme,
Poor mortal filled with grime:
Leave me to drink the wine,
While you... drink water!

Microdosing - 90 mg of a Tower
Another overdose... this was a fun prompt!
Once there was a princess who lived in an ivory tower. Nobody had forced her to do so, she liked it there. There was a spiral staircase running all the way to the top floor, and the walls of the tower were completely lined with bookcases, filled to the brim with books of all kinds. The princess lived in a room at the top, spending her time reading and dreaming.
One day a handsome prince stopped beneath her tower. “Come play with me, fair princess, and you'll never have to labor among the books again.” The princess cared more for her books than his looks, so she politely sent him packing.
The next day a wealthy merchant tried his luck: “Become my bride and you will have more gold and jewels than you can count.” But she wasn’t interested in untold riches, so he left, too.
Finally, a wandering teller of tales knocked upon her door. “Please marry me, literate lady, and I will tell you wondrous stories for the rest of your days!” The princess loved to hear new stories, so she welcomed the story teller into the tower. They fell in love and wed, and spent a long, happy marriage amongst the books. And when the babies were born, their father entertained them with tales of magic and wonder, sending them off to the Land of Nod to dream of imaginary quests and rambles.

Microdosing - 60 mg of Cards
I made some business cards to hand out at those parties that my better half sometimes drags me to. “Networking.” Hurumph. When the host asked what I do, I commented that I clean up other people’s messes, handing him a card featuring a drawing of a TP roll. The boring boor left me alone for the rest of the night.

Microdosing - 50 mg of a Mind
Prompt from Miguel S.’s book, “Micro Dosing Fiction”
What's on my mind?
Do you mind?
I'm minding my own business.
I’ve an open mind and my mindset is clear.
Mindfulness will help me stay sane.
My mind is keen,
But I'm already out of my mind.
'Tis a pity, for a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Microdosing - 60 mg of a Tree
Prompt from Miguel S.’s book, “Micro Dosing Fiction”
It started with an acorn,
Tiny and insignificant,
That sprouted and grew,
And grew and grew,
Becoming a mighty oak.
The squirrels merrily spread its seed,
Until it became a sacred grove,
Where druids worshipped the Forest Queen.
So it is with all great things:
Beginnings are small, but wait and see,
And your life may flourish like a tree.

Microdosing - 100 mg of an Attic
I was charged with cleaning out Grandma’s attic. I dug carelessly through broken dishes, nonfunctional appliances, old Christmas ornaments, until I discovered a large wooden box. I opened it to reveal dozens of notebooks, all filled with Grandma’s elegant, neat cursive. I began reading and didn’t resurface until the sun was setting.
Who knew that sweet, old Grandma, baker of cookies, singer of lullabies, gardener extraordinaire - before dementia took hold - had written such spellbinding tales?
You can read them in her posthumously published book, Treasures From the Attic of a Tangled Mind. All proceeds are going to the Alzheimer's Association.

Microdosing - 90 mg of Cake
Prompt from Miguel S.’s book, “Micro Dosing Fiction”
“🎶 Happy birthday to you! 🎶”
Kev yelled, “Blow out the candles and make a wish!”
Miguel took his wife’s hand, squeezing it gently, shedding tears of gratitude. “No need for wishes, my friend,” Miguel assured him, “All my dreams have already come true."
Kev nodded. “Well, okay then, but does somebody have to die to get a party going? Let’s rave!”
Suddenly realizing that he was talking to the God of Death, Miguel’s mouth dropped open.
“Fear not, little buddy, I’m on vacation, too,” Kev assured him. So they partied on!

I had to drive my father-in-law to a doctor’'s appointment in the city today, which chews up most of the day, but the trip inspired four haikus!

As delightful as always!
Love the video!
I've seen quite a few images from Peter Herrmann on Unsplash and they are nearly all extraordinary. I think it's called 'urbex photography' or something. (urban exploration, I think urbex stands for). I've got a few of them archived for potential use and I'm sure I've already used one of them somewhere.
Especially loved the princess in the tower :)
