Teeny Tiny Tales #14
"Winter is putting footsteps in the meadow." -- Roman Payne. 1.22.25 through 1.28.25
This is where I present my daily microfiction stories, mostly based on the past week’s prompts from The Fiction Dealer. By posting my humble tales - the good, bad, silly, and indifferent - I hope to inspire others to allow their creativity to come out and play.

Microdosing - 80 mg of an Exhale
When I step out into the garden, I am greeted by the exhalations from the freshly tilled soil: The deep, clean, earthy perfume mingles with the grassy bite of green growing things and the gentle sweetness of springtime blooms. I inhale deeply, drawing the magical elixir deep into my lungs, and then exhale, sending out my own humble human aura to join in the olfactory symphony of renewed life. Spring, spring, my favorite time of year, has returned at last.

Microdosing - 90 mg of a Battery (and F-bombs fell like rain)
The prosecutor stated, "Clearly, the defendant is guilty of battery: He posted a video showing himself intentionally punching the victim in the face, breaking his nose. Only one question remains: Was it simple battery - a misdemenor - or aggravated - a felony? Keep in mind, the victim is 98 years old."
The jury unanimously declared the defendant guilty of aggravated battery, earning him 15 years in prison. If the bully had picked on someone his own age, he'd have only gotten three years probation. The old man shouted, "Justice prevails, ya stupid fuckwit!"

Microdosing - 50 mg of Soulmates
She was dying. Sixty years, they were soulmates. Before pain and morphine destroyed her sanity, she begged me to care for her ailing husband.
His voice and manner sometimes change slightly; then she peers out and takes my hand, as her soul speaks to me through his lips. "Thank you."

Microdosing - 50 mg of a Family
Prompt from Miguel S.’s book, “Micro Dosing Fiction”
The boy escaped the fire that killed his family. He found a cottage, where an old woman offered him sanctuary.
As he slowly rediscovered happiness, he asked if he could call her "Mama."
She smiled gently. "No, little one, I'm too old to be Mama; but you can call me Grandmama."

Microdosing - 100 mg of an Aurora
Simon spent his life amassing wealth, crushing anyone in his way. But he no longer had enough years left to enjoy his riches. When he learned that the secret to everlasting life lay at the aurora's source, he knew he must have it.
Traveling north, always north, always alone, he eventually found the place from whence all colors flowed. He fell to his knees in jubilation, but then he felt his soul being sucked into the maelstrom to join the others, each glowing in anguish. Everlasting life was indeed his, but he would spend eternity serving the great god, Aurora.

Microdosing - 60 mg of a Suit
I brushed the hair from his eyes and kissed the tip of his tiny nose, as I buttoned up his little suit. My boy looked so adorable, I could barely stand it.
A voice asked, "Ready, ma'am?"
Unable to answer, I nodded, my eyes filling with tears as they closed the small coffin. It hurt too much to say goodbye.

Microdosing - 100 mg of a Flower Field
If you must wander in amongst the flowers, I must warn you to beware.
The soft pawed foxglove will stop your heart, so you really must take care.
Hydrangeas kill with cyanide, mountain laurels kill with burning fire,
One tiny bite of oleander will make you sleep forever, never more to tire.
Rhododendrons and azaleas will suffocate, lily of the valley clots your blood.
So you'd do well to hesitate among the lovely blooms and buds.
If you walk into the flower field, beware the petals and their parts,
The flowers may be beautiful, but the Reaper lurks within their hearts.
Love the Flower Field. 🥰 Beauty has a way of protecting itself.
