So it’s peepers that help create that symphony I miss so much. And you caught one! So sweet.

I love them! The peepers are pretty much the only nighttime singers up here right now, though that will change soon, when the other amphibians get busy. The little froggie is cute, but that isn't my hand in the photo, the picture was taken by some dude called "Fungus Guy" (a true naturalist, based on his handle) - there's a link in the caption. Peepers are difficult to catch. They are super small and very good hiders and impossible to sneak up on (they stop singing if one tries to creep up on them). I've never seen one in real life!

Heh, I like it. He sounds like the kind of guy I would have been buddies with in high school (yes, I was THAT kind of kid).

I'm glad you liked it. Do you have frogs that make that kind of racket where you live?

I like toads very much, MUCH more than slugs, but slugs are okay in the compost bin. I don't like them in the veggies, though. They're supposed to be scavengers, but I've seen them chewing holes in the vegetables and sliming up whatever they don't eat. Almost as maddening as the birds and mice who insist on taking ONE bite of a tomato or pepper and leaving the rest to rot!
